§ 131-3. Location; purpose; installation; specifications; signs and lighting.

  • A. 
    The fire and emergency access lanes shall be in those locations and of sufficient design as may be reasonably required by the public safety officials.
    B. 
    The purpose of these lanes is to guarantee unimpaired ingress and egress in and around public parking areas and to and around all buildings located in these areas in the event of fire or other emergency for police, fire and other emergency vehicles.
    C. 
    Such lanes shall be installed by the property owner with acceptable signs and paint on the pavement provided by such property owner and installed and maintained under the guidance and direction of the Chief of Police, the Fire Chief and the Fire Official of the Borough.
    D. 
    The number, location, width, length and markings of such fire lanes shall be determined by the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and the Fire Official of the Borough.
    E. 
    Signs and lighting for such lanes and the means of ingress to and egress from such lanes shall be determined according to standards as established by the municipality pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-2.46 and shall, in any event, conform to all those requirements as set forth in Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey.
